A Culchie Goes To: Galway City

This was my first trip to Galway city and I fell in love with the cobbled streets and lively pubs.
Galway is the perfect mix of urban and country life and it’s no wonder why it’s so popular with tourists.

We were lucky that when we went the weather was wonderful unlike how it’s been recently. On the first day I decided to go casual and wear my favourite mom jeans from pull & bear and a fun pink crop top I picked up from forever 21. As I wanted to be comfortable during my bus ride yet still chic enough to explore Galway city with style. I definitely recommend buying jeans from pull & bear as I’ve had mine for a while and it’s still to show any signs of wear and tear.

Short breaks are all about how to fit as much clothes as possible into the littlest of space. So that’s why I brought my go to sandals for the summer with me. There not everyone’s taste and there certainly not my usual style but I wanted to try something that was a bit outside of my comfort zone and I’m so glad I did! They are completely different from the usual black and brown sandals I already own but can be worn with a variety of different outfits. So why don’t you take a step out of your comfort zone (big or small) and get yourself a pair of statement sandals. You certainly won’t regret it!
For going out, I decided to wear this checkered playsuit from Zaful I’ve been wanting to wear for some time. I loved the pattern and the style of the playsuit plus the material was very light which allowed me to move with ease during the warm night. I got the playsuit in a size bigger as was recommended but it ended up being way to big and I had to get it taken in. So I’d advise being very careful with sizing when buying from Zaful. Other than that I loved it! And will definitely be wearing it again sometime soon.

For the second day, I decided to pair a simple textured denim skirt from Zara with a trendy love heart bralet I purchased for €2 at Penneys (such a style steal!). I covered up with a see through sparkly t-shirt to add a touch of glam to my outfit.

Recently, I’ve been trying to get into wearing more jewellery and Penneys has been the place to go as their jewellery is cheap yet still fashionable and If I decide that jewellery isn’t really for me, I can easily get rid of it. So I paired all my outfits with their layered gold necklaces.

I think what really differentiates Galway’s nightlife from other places is the amount of pubs and bars. I really enjoyed hopping from bar to bar trying different drinks and dancing to different genres of music. It’s quite different from what I’m used to in Dublin where I usually just go to one nightclub and stay there for the night. It was certainly refreshing.

I loved Galway and can't wait to go back soon to explore more of the beautiful county. Don’t forget to check out my Instagram @culchiecouture for more updates on what I’m doing and my latest outfits.

Love Aisha xx

My Year of Realising Things

It's been a long long long time....like really long, nearly 3 months if you've been counting but 6th year has just taken over my life. It's such a stressful year and in trying to keep up with the workload I've been unable to post. So I said I'd post one more time before we enter the New Year.

This year has been one hell of a roller coaster, a bumpy sleigh ride, a potholed highway whatever you want to call it but It's a fair bet to say 2016 was stressful for most people but hopefully we all end on a high note.

New Years Resolutions?.. I don't think so, I honestly don't think I've ever successfully completed any of my Resolutions, so instead of setting myself up for failure, I decided to take some pointers from Kylie and make 2017 "My Year of Realising Shit". Instead of the usual try to lose weight, get healthier or in my more pathetic moments find a boyfriend. I'm going to spend this year focusing on my myself, my spiritual wellbeing and maybe this sounds selfish but my own happiness above all. I know this may not happen next year or the the year after that but I'm dedicating all my future New Years resolutions to finding myself...until I finally do.

P.S if I actually did gain something this year it's how to be deep af 😂 Happy New Years my lovely followers 💋💋

Back To Black

The popular saying goes "Don't wear black in the sun" but I've never been a girl who follows the rules. Black is such a wonderful colour and I don't see why it should be blacklisted to only the colder months. I've never been a big fan of summer and maybe that's just my inner reclusive talking. I prefer staying in as the rain hits against my window and a hot cup of tea in my hand.

I'm a complainer and I'm not afraid to say it. Even though I love the winter months you'll still see me complaining about the weather and when summer comes you'll see me complaining even more about the heat. To tell the truth there's no pleasing me. Despite this flaw I try my best to keep my monologues to myself as I understand not everyone appreciates my realistic reviews of current phenomenons and my reactions towards those.

Well back to my outfit, everyone needs a simple black dress. Black dresses are just classic and this turtle neck adds a touch of class. I changed up my usual sandals by swapping the straps with a pair of shoelaces. This is a cheap way of getting in on that lace up trend without having to purchase a new pair of sandals. I'm sorry for the lack of accessories but I'm just not a jewellery kind a gal.

A Culchie Goes To: Strasburg

Fun Fact Strasbourg is in fact in France and not Germany as I previously thought. I arrived at Charles de Galle around 3 and had to wait 6 before boarding the TGV. While waiting I decided to people watch and where best to do it than Paris, the fashion capital of Europe. The Parisians are effortlessly fashionable in their all black ensembles and it made me all the more stand out in my green hoodie and sketchers.

The weather was  amazing and I couldn't help feeling a bit smug as I was here while my friends were stuck in a classroom in Ireland. The view from our hotel was incredible, it seemed we right in the middle of all the activity.

It seems you do find the Irish anywhere and it wasn't long until we met some people from Galway and Cork. When I arrived on the grounds were the event was being held it seemed like I'd walked into the fields of Coachella. Girls sporting knee high sandals and bohemian crop tops while the men wore jorts and faded nirvana shirts.

One thing I can definitely say about the European Union is that they definitely value their security, it took a while to be checked by security but it was definitely worth it.

I suppose I could talk about some of the talks I attended but to tell the truth I spent most of my time sunbathing on a bean bag I'd claimed as my own. The city of Strasbourg is truly mesmerising, as if I'd just stepped out of a Disney novel. There was so much green space and parks.

There were so many cute little shops selling novelty items and I made sure I picked up some! We didn't have a lot of time to shop but I made I got a little retail therapy done, (I might post a small haul of what I bought there soon).

The people of Strasbourg were very welcoming and they didn't seem to mind as I butchered their language or when I asked for directions.

The finally concert was the perfect way culminate the wonderful weekend. The bands played music from different EU countries and it's was amazing to listen to the different music. There were no more boundaries as people danced and chatted to strangers discussing politics, music and how this weekend had affected them. It was truly an unforgettable experience. As Sunday approached I didn't want to return home, Strasbourg is a wonderful city full of excitement and adventure. I'd recommend it to anyone and I can't wait to return (hopefully soon).

It's Actually Summer in Ireland?

Ireland has actually been experiencing summer this year but I don't want to hold my hopes too high just in case it starts raining tomorrow. This outfit it taking full advantage of the great weather without showing too much skin.

Everyone's in a rush during summer time to go chill at the beach or have a peruse around town so your wardrobe needs to be filled with comfortable and versatile clothing. Clothing that needs to be easy to take off and allows your skin to breathe.

I took advice from my previous post and paired these striped palazzo pants with a simple white off the shoulder crop top. It was simple and light exactly what summer embodies.

If your a bit more conservative swap the crop top for a baggy t-shirt and just tuck it in. It will look even more carelessly fashionable, a look loved by Parisians.

Sorry this is late, I've been busy procrastinating study for two weeks but summer has arrived and I'll hopefully be able to post at least once a week.

Stripes In Spring

Stripes are apparently the latest come back trend but to be honest when did they go out of style. Stripes are timeless and style them correctly and they'll take pounds of your figure.

This season the bolder the stripes the better, there's horizontal, vertical and asymmetrical too. I know we all love our regular black and white but a little colour never hurt nobody.

Here are some of my favourite striped pieces this Spring.

Everyone needs a pair of statement pants so why not kill two birds with one stone and get your stripe fix aswell. Pair them with a black off the shoulder crop top, a black fedora and your ready to go. If your looking for a more off the duty look, style them with a plain oversized t-shirt and black Birkenstocks.

No. 3 & 4 are very similar in style but I just couldn't decide which one I liked best. What I love both about these is that they have a very summery vibe. It's best to stick with black and white with pieces similar to this. Gladiator heels are perfect for those Coachella vibes and even if it's still raining where you live ( like here ) you'll look fabulous while marching through the mud!

The contrasting colours on this piece are very eye catching and this piece even incorporates the lace up trend that was loved last season. Since there's already a lot of colour on this, keep it minimalistic. This romper is lovely for a night out, style it with some white stilettos, and white fluffy clutch.

I hope I gave you enough advice on how to style stripes this season and dot forget to suscribe to get updates on when I post!

It Can't Be Spring Yet?

It seems Ireland hasn't got the memo it's Spring time because it's still a bit chilly here. I decided to pair my new long gilet with my white wool halter neck. You can never go wrong with white on white!

Gilets are an absolute essential, they honestly never go out of style. You can get them in so many different styles and colours. Small knitted ones are cute for summer and spring or you can get a large black one that you can pair with everything for winter.

Since I have a small hatred for jeans and I only wear them when I absolutely have to I paired this white combo with the comfortable black pants. As you can probably tell I was in a very minimalist mood but if you want to add some colour to this outfit. I'd suggest swapping the white turtle neck for red sweater or a long sleeved pastel t-shirt.

Culchie Goes to Dublin

I'm back! I'm so sorry for the wait...Happy Late New Years I suppose. I recently went on a class trip to Dublin, to watch a play. It was a lovely day and I got to go to shops I usually don't get to visit. I went into Brown Thomas and let me just say I nearly died. It wasn't like I could afford anything there...but a girl can visualise and hopefully one day achieve.

I'm wearing black high waisted skinny jeans with a David Bowie shirt for a more rock star vibe. A plain black or white t-shirt can also be worn if you are looking for a more minimal style. Everyone needs a bit of glamour in their lives so I threw on my new white faux-fur jacket. I recently purchased some new coats so I might do a coat haul so watch out for that! To complete the look I wore a pair of pleather Chelsea's. This look is perfect day time but you can also make it night time appropriate by swapping the boots for some lace up high heeled boots or the t-shirt for a silver crop top.

Once again I'm very sorry for the delay but I hope to start posting at least once a week! You can also check out my polyvore -culchiecween

A Culchie Goes To: The National Science & History Museum

Being a tourist I decided todo some touristy things in London as you do. I went to visit the National Science & History Museum. I wasn't to excited about the science part as I love History, but I was really surprised as I found myself enjoying the Space exhibition! I'd encourage anyone in London to go and see it, it was really fascinating.

For this trip to the National Science & History Museum, I tried to go for a type of Museum aesthetic and I hoped it worked. Featuring again in this ootd is guess what? My denim skirt. No surprise there I suppose.

Well for this trip I paired it with my black halter neck that adds a bit of pizzazz to any outfit ( yes I did in fact use the word pizzazz). I think it was the black halter neck that truly topped off my Museum aesthetic. Sorry this one is short but I'll be back with more soon!

A Culchie Goes To London: A Walk in the Park

This is what I wore for a simple walk to the park, the white plain t-shirt captures the effortlessness and simpleness of summer and the denim skirt adds the right amount of chic to it. It was just the right level of casualness that you wouldn't mind seeing your crush in or having an impromptu fashion shoot like I did. The man behind me must have thought I wasn't well in the head! and please excuse my awkward posing, I'm still learning the tropes of fashion blogging.

Didn't I say that most of my posts would feature this denim skirt. Its not that I have nothing to wear its just that I want to wear this skirt everywhere! Its so comfortable and I wasn't lying when I said it went with everything.

I apologise for not posting more, it not that I don't have the time. I certainly do, sometimes it seems that I even have too much time! Its just that it takes a while to upload these images onto my computer and sometimes I just lack the spirit and encouragement to do so. I'm not going to make fake promises that I'm going to post every second day but I am going to try my best to post at least once a week. I recently bought some make-up and I'm excited to review them! So stay tuned for that.

                  The Culchie Goes To... London

One month of my Summer Holidays has already been spent watching Netflix and procrastinating getting that toned summer body. For the next month I'll be spending it in London, the city that never sleeps and any other poetic metaphors used to describe the city. I'll be hoping to post pictures, outfits and reviews of what I wear and do out and about London, if I do anything at all. So subscribe to my blog to find out what a Culchie does when they go to London.

I was going to post an airport outfit but decided against it because I barely had any time, I'll do one on my return trip. So below is an outfit I wore a couple of days after I arrived in London.

Ignore the household utilities in the back, don't worry I'll get better, we all have to start somewhere and mine just happens to be in front of a kitchen.

I got this skirt in New look and be ready to see this appear frequently in a lot of future ootds, this skirt is a summer essential!, every girl needs a denim skirt in their wardrobe. It goes with everything and you can dress it up or down by simply pairing it with some high heel wedges and your favourite bandeau. I plan on buying a white one as it adds a touch of summer and girlishness to any outfit.

I live for crop tops and I wear them basically everywhere.Summer gives me the chance to wear them without people judging me or dying from hypothermia due to the lovely cold weather of Ireland. This season off the shoulder tops or peasant tops are in trend and I am loving it! I plan to have one in every colour and design by the end of summer. They suit people of all shapes and sizes and there a lovely way to show off your collarbones!!
